I believe in the words of the late country singer Jimmy Dean, who said, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails always to match my destination.”

We rarely have control over the circumstances of our lives, but we do have control over how we deal with them.

Optimism will not make the difficulties and obstacles disappear, but it will change your attitude and help you connect with your inner strength.

You will be able to focus on solving problems instead of getting caught up in them. Without optimism, there is no confidence, possibility of progress, courage, or serenity.

Try observing how you feel when you slip into pessimism or its close cousins: bitterness and cynicism. If you like it, do not change anything.

If you do not, remember that optimism is the best antidote to frustration and the vicious cycle of negativity.
